A young Chadwick Boseman plays defendant Foster Keyes. He appears to be wearing a contact lens in one eye to make it appear discolored.
When the detectives interrupt "Slug" playing poker, he protests "Oh come on, I got aces over eights!" Briscoe replies "That's a Hickok. A dead man's hand!" This refers to the (possibly apocryphal) story that the last hand of poker which the gunfighter "Wild" Bill Hickok played before he was shot in the back of the head (on August 2, 1876), consisted of both black aces and both black eights.
Dorian Missick (Ronald Duggan aka Slug) previously played the role of Henry Williams in episode 11.14, A Losing Season (2001).
