"Nazi speed" or "Ya Ba" are tablets containing a mixture of caffeine and methamphetamine. "Ya Ba" is Thai for "mad drug", the drug acquired that street name after becoming very popular in Asian countries, especially Thailand. In European and American countries it is also known as "Nazi speed", it gained this name because during World War II German soldiers were given large doses of caffeine and amphetamines to help keep them awake and alert on guard duty, night patrols and long marches.
Denis O'Hare (Father Hogan) once again continues the L&O tradition of an actor playing multiple different characters across the franchise. He has appeared in one episode of New York Undercover (1994), four episodes of this series, two episodes of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (1999) and one episode of Law & Order: Criminal Intent (2001). He's played seven different characters in the L&O franchise, two of them have been priests and he has played the same priest in both Criminal Intent and SVU.
