NO surprise Richard Baer wrote this episode. Baer wrote two episodes for the series, a master at creative comedy writing with such sitcoms as BEWITCHED and the MUNSTERS.
Also another famous teen episode, the proverbial exercise in fads. You may recall an episode about Wally's greasy, slick 50s hair doo. This time it's all about Wally's new hipster 50s suit, an obvious take-off on rock star Bill Haley (ROCK AROUND THE CLOCK). Haley was a flashy dresser (his trademark), a wild style and fad that originated in the 40s.
I agree with the last reviewer, yes, this was filmed in black and white, so we do not know the color scheme. However, it's probably loud as heck.
Naturally, Ward and June are NOT impressed, highly, highly recommending a switch to conservative black or gray. ASAP. The force behind it all is the one and only Eddie Haskell. Truly is amazing, how Wally and Eddie actually became close friends.
The nagging question we always love to ask; WHY doesn't Eddie ever take his own advice? It would have been a neat twist had Wally talked Eddie into walking around town wearing the suit instead, right?
As usual, young Beave is priceless as the unofficial observer of the fashion faux paus, and watch his expressions.
Another gem from SEASON 2 remastered Universal dvd box set. 6 dvds. Released 2004 with a classic cover.
