Well worth seeing
planktonrules10 November 2012
I was excited to see this episode of "Lights Out" because it starred a wonderful actress, Josephine Hull. She was amazing in "Arsenic and Old Lace" as well as "Harvey" and won an Oscar for her wonderful way of playing ditsy old ladies. This episode is one of her last performances before she died at age 80. The show also happens to feature a very young John Forsythe in a supporting role.

The show has to do with a very sad man (Forsythe), as his beloved wife recently died. Yet, despite this, he seems pretty happy and reportedly is bringing home a new bride. What exactly happens next you'll need to see for yourself. Overall, this is a very good episode. However, don't expect a lot of thrills or chills. Instead, the story is genuinely sad and poignant. Well worth seeing and cleverly written.

By the way, if you are interested in seeing any of the episodes of "Lights Out", many are available for free download at archive.org. Some are very good (such as "Dead Man's Coat" and "The Meddlers"), however, many are not.

Very poor shaggy-dog story

From the old "Lights Out" series, this two-hander is very disappointing -a one-note short story that is much ado about nothing.

The fine actress from Capra's movie "Arsenic and Old Lace" Josephine Hull does a good job of carrying the show, playing the landlady to John Forsythe, latter the mysterious young man who lived on her second floor. He's returned after the death of his wife Charlotte, and surprisingly plans to move back in just a month later with a new wife.

Hull's attitudes and behavior dominate the show, going from disgust at the action of Forsythe remarrying so soon after Charlotte's passing, to her great interest in meeting the new wife. It's watchable for a while, but soon becomes tiresome as Forsythe's shifty behavior is so obvious a clue that something's wrong.

Ending is poorly done and completely unsatisfying, causing the half hour to have been a total waste of time.
