The only unhappy ending.

Warning: Spoilers
The Love Boat is a pretty feel good show, with numerous storylines: some dramatic, some funny, some in between...but they all get resolved in an hour always leaving passengers happy as they disembark to head home.

This episode is unique as it's the only one (that I know of) that features an unhappy ending for a passenger couple (the show seems to save its sad outcomes exclusively for the crew, who all lose numerous loves in various ways over the seasons).

The other storylines in this two-parter are typical TLB fare, but the one featuring John Forsythe and Ursula Andress stays with you. Both actors are compelling in making you believe they are truly in love, but despite any hope you have for a typical ending, tragedy befalls them. In rewatching the series sometimes I choose not to watch this episode because it ends on a sadder note, sometimes I steel myself and go for it. This is a memorable one simply because it's a little different than the rest.

Warning: Spoilers
'Have you ever been to the Great Wall of China?' That's the buffet restaurant here in my home town. Are we really going to start Season 7 with a double-length travel episode? Of course we are. But you know, Chairman Mao does not allow bikinis on the lido deck. Sigh. This means a ton of plot and characters and excess travel facts. I hope they run into Chow Yun-Fat. No, probably not. We're going to have some rich people who have very exclusive problems - namely love. I can't afford to have love problems. Vicki is almost an adult, but she's still holding hands with her dad. Awkward. Lee Majors is a famous advice columnist, 'Dear Roberta.' Can he get something going with lonely Linda Evans? John Forsythe is hot for mystery woman Ursula Andress. Unfortunately, he can't get a cabin on the ship. He might be able to bunk with Ur. Now Charlie has a gun on him. Well, this is inconvenient. Doc tries to speak Chinese. Susan Anton shows him how to properly use his tongue. Greg is a pursur, with his girlfriend with Erin Moran. Oops. Here's his other girl too. What a sticky situation! Gosh, there's a lot going on here. Too much. On the other hand, if the whole episode was the crew getting stuck in immigration, it probably wouldn't get good ratings. I'd still watch. See you in Shanghai.
