The Waratah Park where wildlife scenes where filmed is same location used in Skippy a 1968-70 Australian TV show about a kangaroo named Skippy and a Park Ranger and his son. It was basically a copy of American show 'Flipper' but with kangaroo. The main building shown was still the same from outside at this time.
The cruise is in Nouméa, New Caledonia---a territory of France in Melanesia, in the South Pacific---which the voice over calls "the Paris of the Pacific". Yet, in Michelle Phillips' first scene, she is sitting in front of a French Polynesian paréo: the names of the islands "Tahiti" and "Moorea" stand out. Polynesia and Melanesia are on opposite sides of the International Date line and a full 4,622 km apart. Also, Polynesian and Melanesian islands are of very different cultures, and its beautiful peoples are of completely different ethnic makeup. It is, however, not an error: the paréo---a versatile Tahitian cloth wrap, worn mainly by vahinés around their hips, or as a short dress---could have been there from a previous cruise shopping trip.
The underwater capsule scene is a throwback to Man From Atlantis, starring Patrick Duffy, his first series with a starring role where he played an amphibian-man and aquatic super-hero of sorts. Man from Atlantis (1977) was wildly popular outside the USA, particularly in France, other countries of Europe and South America, and China.
