At the very end, a boy throws a pie tin towards Klinger and Winchester. The pie tin lands about a foot in front of Klinger. But when Winchester goes to pick it up to throw it away, the pie tin has moved to be right next to Winchester. Also, when Winchester bends down to grab the pie tin, his left arm resting on the door to the Swamp comes off and moves down, but is suddenly (almost instantly) back up on the door as he completes his throwing motion.
Lt. Carpenter took her ill-fated walk after 3 AM, when the entire camp would be very quiet. Since it would have been very unwise to stray too far from camp in the dead of night, the explosion of the landmine that killed her should have awakened, or been heard by, someone in camp, even from as far as a mile away. Yet Col. Potter said that her body was not found until the next morning, presumably after daybreak.
