Sally's pregnancy, which figures throughout this episode, is never mentioned again in the series. The episode was ordered by NBC after production on the first season had already wrapped, and Susan Saint James' real-life pregnancy was too far along to hide.
This episode's story was written by Brad Radnitz and is basically a re-write of a Radnitz-penned Ironside (1967) episode, An Obvious Case of Guilt (1968).
During the opening credits, an ambulance is pulling into a hospital. Immediately after they show Bobby Troup's name, the camera pointedly zooms in on a sign reading EMERGENCY - the name of Troup's new show Emergency! (1972) which had debuted just a few months earlier.
Jason Richards' hideout ("the old MacIntosh place") reappears as the Kendall's mountain cabin in Night of the Wizard (1972), the very next episode.
