I expect that fine actor Harry Townes was hired because of the demanding role of Milton Korwyn, buyer for a large department store. Problem is that Milton's developing an ulcer because he's driving himself up the ladder of corporate success, even to the exclusion of a social life. It's very much a 1950's subtext when post-war opportunities mushroomed for ambitious young men. Here Milton ignores mounting warning signs in an effort to prove worthy of a promotion. More revealingly, he identifies self-worth with job success. Learning to separate the two, however, is not something surgery can solve.
There's graphic footage of abdominal surgery as doctors cut into the duodenum (I believe) to remove Milton's ulcer. But most of the 30-minutes dramatizes Milton's struggles with his job and himself. I guess my only complaint is wasting a fine actress like June Vincent in what amounts to a walk-on role. Nonetheless, it's a solid half-hour dealing informatively with a fairly common medical problem.
