Michael Anthony : [At the apartment of Julie Sherman] I was looking for you, Miss Julie Sherman. I just missed you at the gallery and they said I might find you home. I hope you don't mind but it's important.
[Opens his briefcase]
Michael Anthony : My name is Michael Anthony. I have something for you: a cashier's check for $1,000,000.
Julie Sherman : A cashier's check for $1,000,000? There is no such thing. That can't be.
Michael Anthony : [Displaying check] Oh, yes, there is. It's a gift, and the taxes have already been paid.
Julie Sherman : [Takes check] And you've paid the taxes on it?
Michael Anthony : Well, I negotiated the arrangements. But the money is yours to do with as you please
[Retrieving a document from his briefcase]
Michael Anthony : as long as you just sign this agreement.
Julie Sherman : Why me? What did I do to deserve $1,000,000?
Michael Anthony : I have no idea. But it's yours on the condition that you promise to tell no one the exact amount or the circumstances under which you received it.
Julie Sherman : [Reading from agreement] 'If I reveal, the gift will forfeit and the unspent monies will be reclaimed.' Do you mean all I have to do is not tell anyone?
Michael Anthony : The only exception is your husband.
Julie Sherman : I'm not married.
Michael Anthony : Well, I'm sure you will be one day.
Julie Sherman : I'm sure I will be one day.
[Signs the agreement]
Michael Anthony : Thank you.
[Returns pledge to his briefcase]
Julie Sherman : I don't know what to do with it first.
Michael Anthony : The bank is a good first.
[They laugh]
Michael Anthony : Good bye and good luck.
[Starts to depart]
Julie Sherman : Good luck? How much more good luck could I ask for?
[Follows Anthony to the door]
Julie Sherman : Thank you so much, Mr. Anthony. Thank you for going through all the trouble.
[Anthony is in the hallway as she calls after him]
Julie Sherman : Thank your employer who must remain anonymous. Oh, thank you for paying the taxes.
Michael Anthony : [Calling back] You're very welcome, Miss Sherman.
