- Professor Napolsky: I assure you, young man, it gets rather boring just to stand about waiting for someone to come to try to assassinate you!
- [last lines]
- Daniel Briggs: I owe you an apology. I lost confidence there a moment or two. I thought Fetyakov might have gotten to you.
- Cinnamon Carter: I took the bullets, didn't I?
- Daniel Briggs: Yes, you did.
- [then gets up and leaves the room]
- Cinnamon Carter: [by herself] Besides, you just can't explain it. You just had to be there. That's all.
- [first lines]
- Person on Tape: [voice on tape] Good afternoon, Mr. Briggs. Two espionage groups from an enemy country are engaged in a power struggle which has focused on the problem of which group will assassinate this man, Professor Napolsky, who recently defected to us. In six days, the professor must appear at a scientific conference where he will be an open target. This is Andrei Fetyakov, the number one assassin for the new young civilian group which the Secretary considers far more dangerous than the old-line military intelligence service represented by this man, Colonel Shtemenko. Mr. Briggs, your mission, should you decide to accept it, would be to stop the assassination in such a way as to totally discredit Fetyakov and his organization, so that the old group, which we find easier to handle, will remain in power. As always, should you or any of your IM Force be caught or killed, the Secretary will disavow any knowledge of your actions. Please dispose of this recording in the usual manner. Good luck, Dan.
- Cinnamon Carter: What did you say your name was?
- Andrei Fetyakov: I didn't think I did. Andrei Fetyakov.
- Cinnamon Carter: Mine's Cinnamon.
- Andrei Fetyakov: Cinnamon? Is that some kind of medicine?
- Cinnamon Carter: No. It's a spice.
- Daniel Briggs: If I haven't told you before, I want to tell you now, I think you're a pretty talented liar.
- Cinnamon Carter: The best.
