THIS EPISODE IS ON FIRE, MATE!

James Schmerer wrote this incredible story, and to be congratulated. He was a very successful tv producer and writer for CHIPS, without too much surprise. Michael Cole is fantastic, and you really feel sorry for him as he's hospitalized for a blood clot (his life swinging in the balance), yet duty calls and he can't wait to nail the creep who killed his bud. Pete is a man on one deadly mission, and slowly losing his mind. There is a classic chase scene as Linc burns after Pete along a pier, chasing him into a warehouse. This is about as good as it gets as the Squad plays double team as the clock ticks away. Beautiful Linda Marsh is spot on (who would frequently appear on both MANNIX and CANNON). She has a dynamic scene as she is locked in a closet by Linc, who doesn't utter a single word. This was exceptionally directed. Guy Stockwell and Jack Ging round out the supporting cast, Ging always the guy you love to hate. Look for Betty Lynn (ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW) in a small role as a nurse. Recommended Wow. First episode of 1972.

SEASON 4 EPISODE 15 dvd box set.

Not Much to Recommend Here

Pete feels responsible when a dock worker is killed by mobsters who are trying to take over the Union. Not a stand-out episode or a very original one. Pete had almost been run down a few episodes ago. This time though, he turns rogue, flees the hospital with a serious brain injury to try and catch the bad guys all by himself. The doc informs the gravity of the situation to Capt. Green, Linc and Julie but since we know Pete isn't likely to die, it's not suspenseful.

The only decent parts are when a sweaty, bug-eyed Pete bursts into a beauty salon to track down witness Linda Marsh and freaks all the customers out, and the groovy music during Linc's poolside takedown of the head bad guy.
