Stella Knight is seen in the beginning of the episode rehearsing "Quando m'en vo'", Musetta's major aria in La Boheme. Since she and Andrea Beaumont are working together, Andrea is likely singing Mimi, the lead soprano role in that opera. Both are roles for lyric sopranos, but Paul Faber asks that Drew Granger assign one of Andrea's performances of Aida, a dramatic soprano role requiring a much heavier voice, to Stella. While it is not unheard of for lyric sopranos to sing dramatic roles as well, it is unusual. A better choice would have been Gilda in Rigoletto, or the title role in Lucia di Lammermoor.
Lorenzo Caccialanza (Inspector Amati) and Bruce Abbott (Drew Granger) also appear in another episode of "Murder, She Wrote" - S12,E8: "Shooting in Rome". The story is again set in Rome; however, the setting is a movie set instead of an opera company and, while Lorenzo plays Inspector Amati again, Bruce instead plays a movie director named "Monte Hayes".
