This episode marks the first of nearly 30 appearances by Alan Hewitt as Det. Bill Brennan, a role that he would play for the rest of the series.
At the end Brennan calls Tim and Martin "the Rover Boys". Originally published between 1899 and 1926 the Rover Boys Series for Young Americans set the stage for the Hardy Boys, Nancy Drew, and Tom Swift adventure novels.
Shakespeare's 'Julius Caesar' Act 2 Scene 1: Brutus, "It is the bright day that brings forth the adder, and that craves wary walking." Caesar is maneuvering to be crowned king. In that bright day of glory and power his inner snake, his potential to abuse power, might become dangerous. Detective Brennan slightly misquoted and seriously misinterpreted the line.
