***SPOILERS*** Driving into New York City with their battered and barley operational jalopy from the Razorback State of Arkansas fun loving couple Ansel & Ora Mea Boake, Rip Torn & Tuesday Weld, have run up a string of murders and robberies that would make even former #1 fugitive on the FBI's most wanted list John Dillinger green with envy. Now in the Big Apple the two young lovers don't take that long to paint the town red: Blood Red!
Ansel starts off gunning down two people on the street of Midtown Manhattan over a simple traffic dispute one of them being NYPD Det. Frank Arcaro,Harry Beliaver, who of Ansel's two shooting victims survived. An all state dragnet is put into action looking for him as his "moll" Ora Mea before they or Ansel kill anyone else. What' even worse is that Det.Arcaro's partner the ultra liberal sensitive and caring for humanity Det.Adam Flint, Paul Burke, not only holds himself responsible for his partners shooting, he was in a store when the shooting happened, but far worse had lost his humanity for the human race! Det. Flint was now determined to find Arcaro's shooters and exact Justice on them as the sole judge jury and executioner!Yeah that's right Flint when it, crime, hit's home all your wonderful liberal ideas end up going straight down the toilet!
With both Ansel & Ora Mea, who aren't all that bright to begin with, totally oblivious to what trouble they caused and that there's an all out attempt by the NYPD to apprehend them, with deadly force if necessary, they still go on happily committing crime after crime, that included a number of murders, as if it''s like their playing a pinball machine. What's even more amazing is that the cops lead by the very emotionally charged and adrenaline driven Detective Flint have almost no idea where the two are when their in fact right under their noses, in Midtown Manhattan, and make no attempt of hiding themselves.
***SPOILERS*** The two on the loose and by now serial murderers' luck runs out when they attempt to knock off a bank right in the heart of the city,Midtown Manhattan, at high noon. Det Flint had by now fully composed himself and figured what both Ansel & Ora Mea's next move was and it paid off for him and the NYPD who set a trap for the two. In the end with Ansel shot top pieces, Bonnie & Clyde style, and Ora Mea in police custody all Det.Flint want's to know from her is why her dead husband shot his partner Det.Frank Arcaro? It was Det. Arcaro who fortunately is one of the few people who survived his insane and murderous rampage against society! Why Ansel shot the other dozen or so people, who unfortunately didn't survive, never once seemed to have entered Flint's mind!
