Free love on the freelove freeway...
MaxBorg8910 January 2009
The fourth episode of The Office is arguably the best of the entire first season, and a strong contender for the title of finest episode ever (the two-part series finale is stronger, though). Why? Because of a very poignant development in the platonic romance between Tim and Dawn, and also because of a song.

The premise of the show sees everyone disillusioned over the possible downsizing which might occur soon. In order to cheer them up, David organizes a Training Day that will boost his staff's morale. The situation gets out of hand (obviously) due to his inability to approach anything seriously, and things get more awkward when a rumor starts circulating about Dawn and Lee (Joel Beckett) calling off their wedding and Tim thinks it might be a good time to make his next move.

The entire mid-section, where various types of role play and trust exercises are suggested, is the single funniest moment in the series' history, perfectly accompanied by the somehow darker conclusion. Gareth has his best scene ever when asked about his ultimate fantasy ("Two lesbians. Sisters, probably. I'd just be watching."), but the crown must once again be given to Ricky Gervais for providing Brent with the definitive comic weapon: a ridiculous song he wrote himself. Forever associated with the show, it has become one of the comedian's most recognizable trademarks (along with another thing introduced in Season 2). All together now: free love on the freelove freeway...

Funniest half hour of TV in history

This is the single funniest half an hour of television I have ever watched! Absolutely hilarious. I must've watched it 5 or 6 times and I still laugh my head off every time. Pure brilliance.

Training (#1.4)
ComedyFan201025 February 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Dawn and Lee have trouble in their relationship. They also have a training program that kind of gets ruined by David who has a lot to say.

The funniest episode so far. David is pretty hilarious at the training program and everything that he says. His songs are just perfectly done. And everyone's reaction to him is also pretty good. Gareth with his fantasy also brought one of the highlights of the episode.

Best Episode Of The Show
charlie-butters11 July 2007
OK, English Office, as far as I've noticed its sort of put people off giving the U.S Office its proper chance. The U.S story as far as story is way more developed and Steve Carell, what a great great great cast.

But I sort of see the English Office like a full story all wrapped up and finished with a sweet storyline and a great lead in to the U.S Office if watched all the way through. This chapter has to be probley in my opinion the most full as in plot and character development, and the funniest.. gotta love Garrath's fantasy. I'd like to hear more from him too.

Best episode of the series and Ricky is brilliant. But lot's of Aussies just didn't get the English version cause they didn't get to see all the episodes and see the full story and perhaps missed an episode that gave a certain character major development. A few of my friends here from Melbourne reckon the series is just slow. But I consider myself quite a fan of this series for this is where it all begun for as far as seeing Ricky Gervais's work, and I've been a big fan ever since.

Warning: Spoilers
There is to be a training session with a man who has an MBA. This makes David jealous and tries to show he is in charge.

The Dwight version here says his fantasy is two lesbians, probably sisters.

Dawn and her fiancé get into an argument. They have been engaged for three years. Her fiancé proposed in a newspaper.
