Fancy an Indian!?
Lunerar15 June 2020
I went into this one remembering it as a mundane episode and so wasn't expecting much but it's actually a lot better than I remember. Sure, the Miranda character is a little annoying but that's fine and she doesn't take up a lot of screen time.

There are random laughs as well: a million woodworms can't be wrong; Delly Wally; Rodney getting his nappy changed at four years old; Rodney trying to emulate Del's chat-up strategy.

I know I mention the world-building quite a lot in these earlier episodes but I really do think it helps paint a picture of what their environment is like and we learn a lot about the characters' lives by seeing it open up to us. We get the first glimpse of the kitchen; some scenes out in the streets, and the inside the main entrance to the flats. This opening scene could easily have been filmed in the flat but staging it by the lift really adds something to the scene.

I don't want to give this one an 8/10 but it's a little better than a 7/10. I'd say 7.6/10.

A return to form and Del Boy at his charming best.

Warning: Spoilers
After a very slight downwards turn in form we get a excellent return to form with some really funny moments and a strong story.

Del falls for a posh art dealer named Miranda Davenport who comes to look at the Queen Anne cabinet he and Rodney have bought but she might only be interested in Del's Grandmothers painting, problem is Del might be too smitten to notice.

There are some very moments in this including Del saying perhaps Queen Anne played darts as he explains the holes in the cabinet,Rodney explaining how Miranda looked at him to which Del says it looks like she got a hot chip in her mouth,Rodney trying out the same technique with a lady Del did with Miranda but not coming up with a good result,Del saying the chicken was a bit rubbery that she nearly ended up blowing bubbles with it.

A top episode with some real laugh out load moments and proof that when a Trotter falls for woman it doesn't always end well.

Moderately funny episode
snoozejonc23 September 2020
Del gets involved with an antiques dealer as he tries to sell a woodworm infested piece of furniture.

I found this episode moderately funny with some strong lines and sight gags but I don't think it's as good as others in the series. There isn't enough of Granddad for my liking and I found myself getting impatient during the scenes with Miranda.

It's all a matter of personal taste of course. I've never really enjoyed Del's romantic escapades. In this one Del has a crisis of confidence as he drags Rodney in the kitchen asking for advice on how to approach Miranda with his feelings. This to me seems a world away from the same Del Boy who could "charm a tortoise out of its shell"' and who Rodney thought of as "the last miracle left on this earth" when they went on the pull in 'Go West Young Man'.

All that said, the plot is reasonably strong and the episode resolves itself in a pretty satisfying way.

Not my favourite by a long stretch, but others might enjoy.

A solid episode

While not ever likely to win in a poll of the best 'Only Fools' episodes ever, this is still a solid enough episode, with a winning performance as ever from Sir David Jason.

After a slow start there is some nice interplay between Del and Rodney in the kitchen, and it's lovely to see some vulnerability from Del as it makes him more three dimensional as a character.

The reveal at the end is good too - it's a joy to see how the writer, John Sullivan, springs it on us.

However the 'Miranda' character is a bit dull and underdeveloped, and that stops the episode in my opinion ever being brilliant. I would have liked to have seen more reaction to her from Rodney and Granddad too.

Not classic 'Fools' but still decent enough.
