This episode is nearly unique in that there's no trial (only a coroner's inquest), and therefore no "accused" (defendant).
The mysterious "Mr. Schwump" from The Andy Griffith Show (1960) appears in this episode. At about the 37-minute mark (with commercials), he is a spectator at the coroner's inquest in the saloon of the Gold Gulch Hotel & Saloon. He is standing next to the player piano, with his left elbow resting on top of it. He did not have any spoken lines (audible or otherwise); he just stood there, and he did not display his customary smiles and nods as seen in his Andy Griffith episodes.
He will appear again in a future Perry episode, two years hence.

At about 3:30, the man who helps the injured fellow from the car is heavyweight boxing champion Archie Moore.
