- Season 1 Episode 37 The Coffin Prologue: An armored vehicle is held up, contents taken, one guard shot his fellow guard in the process and after loading the getaway Desoto, the other guard is shot dead. The man with the scar killing the second guard was hanging out at the funeral. Maria DeCara, the sister of the slain guard, Manuel, meets with Pete at Mother's. Maria asks Pete to accompany the deceased to Mexico City, meeting her father Ramon, who has made arrangements for the funeral. At the airport Pete greets the father's secretary, Montero, and then is met with Mexican Federal Police man flashing a badge. Captain Noriega greets Pete in his office, checks the death certificate, and wishes Pete a pleasant visit. The Captain appears skeptical as Pete leaves his office. Outside police headquarters Pete gets into the car of the father, with Montero and the driver, where he is taken to a spot, the father asks for the claim check, Pete says he left it with the police, he gets out, is asked again by Montero for the claim check, whom he slugs, making an escape followed by the driver, who he dodges. He returns to where the body is held, bribing the man in charge, he enters the room, pries open the casket, finding no body but plenty of cash. Outside the closed doors is the Captain entering, he deduces if Pete were the thief, he probably would not have accompanied the casket, and Pete proposes they remove the money, making himself available, the Captain agrees there are people would want to find him. The Captain does know about the robbery of the armored vehicle and says they have been looking for the money. Pete sits at a bar watching the floor show, along comes Montero demanding the claim check or Pete will be killed. There is another man accompanying the secretary who appears killing might his job. Pete hands over the claim check to Montero. Leaving the bar Pete is grabbed, escorted into a car, while another careful, including the Captain watches. Pete is lead to a large house, greeted by Ramon and followed with henchman, guns drawn. Ramon has a scar on his face, Maria DeCara is there with the hit-man and Montero. Pete wants $100,000 for transport efforts. Maria takes the secretary's gun, instructing him to go with Pete, whereby Pete knocks the gun from the hit-man, tips over some nearby items for diversionary reasons, and a fight ensues. Pete is ahead on points when the Captain enters with his men and arrests the offenders. Pete has returned safely and is on the couch with Edie.
