Steve Elliot's aircraft is a Boeing model B75N1 biplane, commonly known as a Stearman, from the name of the company who developed the original design. Built in large numbers and used as a trainer airplane during WWII, thousands of these aircraft were declared surplus after the war and found their way into the hands of the public, with most of them being put to use in air shows for aerobatics or stunts such as wing-walking, converted for use as aerial crop dusters, or other promotional purposes (such as the Red Baron Stearman Squadron).
