Entertaining but hard to believe

SPOILERS Once again the eternally square Reed Hadley stars as the Public Defender. This story begins with one teen (Dennis Hopper) accidentally killing another. However, it might not be a case of murder or manslaughter--the boy might just have been defending himself. So, after talking over the case with the accused, he goes to talk to the dead boy's mother. The mother is naturally distraught but as she describes her son, it sounds as if he had become a so-called 'mama's boy'---a young man who has an over-protective mother. Again and again, she describes incidents where 'hoodlums' persecute her son and her son is an angel. However, as he listens, it sure sounds as if the young man was incredibly angry at his mother for refusing to allow him to grow up or experience life due to the mother's own insecurities. None of this is all that surprising and this made for a good story. HOWEVER, the way that the mother went from completely defending her son and excoriating ALL the other teens made it very, very difficult to accept her complete turn-around only a day later in court. It all just came off as fake and hard to believe, though the story was generally enjoyable despite this.
