The character of Troian is named after Troian Bellisario, the daughter of creator/producer, Donald P. Bellisario and co-producer Deborah Pratt. Troian Bellisario would later appear as Teresa Bruckner in Another Mother - September 30, 1981 (1990).
Troian is played by the show's co-producer, Deborah Pratt. Deborah Pratt also later becomes the voice of Ziggy, which is heard as the intro to every episode, starting later in Season 2.

"A Portrait for Troian" aired on December 13, 1989, before the series would return on January 3, 1990 with Animal Frat - October 19, 1967 (1990). "Camikazi Kid - June 6, 1961" was re-run on NBC the following week on December 20, 1989.
