The scene with the bridge and pond where Edie passes out is the same bridge and pond used in Little House on the Prairie. (It was also used in the pilot episode of Star Trek Deep Space Nine.) When Sam is walking Edie to keep her awake, a small gray farmhouse can be seen in the background which resembles the Garvey's house as well (family friends of the Ingalls family). While most of the Little House set buildings were blown up in the final episode, there were a few that weren't destroyed.
The title references the song "One Toke Over The Line" by Brewer & Shipley from 1970, an obvious drug reference, which relates to this episode's content.
This episode takes place in New York City from June 15 to June 20, 1965.
In the original history, Edie Landsdale died of an overdose of pills and alcohol on June 18, 1965.
