"The Bounty Hunter" from the first season is always an episode that stuck with me. For one, I felt like these 2 actors in this one had the most chemistry of any duo of the season, perhaps second only to the ones from the Pilot. Secondly, it stars one of the most underrated sexy actresses from the 90s Claire Stansfield, who acted in a bunch of low-budget B action movies throughout the decade, guest appeared on a couple of popular TV shows, then just dropped off the radar after that. The biggest movie she was in was definitely the '94 Wesley Snipes-Gary Busey opus Drop Zone, the quintessential skydiving flick. While Stansfield was beautiful with a fashion model's height and physique (apparently, she started out as a model), she also had a rugged, gritty appeal where she physically looked like she could handle herself in action scenes, thus why she was probably featured in so many. Her partner in crime in this one is played by Ron Marquette, who went onto appear in another Red Shoe episode in a later season and sadly died a couple of years after this season. This episode, which takes place on a single rainy night at a roadside diner, is about a female bounty hunter (played by Stansfield) who is working for the wealthy woman who was fleeced by a hustling playboy (played by Marquette). The hunter's assignment is to catch the woman's lover and bring him to her. But things get complicated as the hunter has actually fallen for her prey as they play a game of sexual cat and mouse at the diner where he works and she's the only customer. Something that is rare in movie and TV shows is natural chemistry between actors. And on a show like this where chemistry is a must, yet time and budget constraints demand that 2 actors get cast and episodes get pumped out in volume, sometimes it clicks and sometimes it doesn't. Here, it all comes together as the scenes between the hunter and her bounty ooze intensity and passion. It's kind of disappointing that Stansfield gave up on acting after the 90s because she had a unique look and appeal that stood out from most actresses of the time. A keeper from Season 1.
