- Steele wakes up with a hangover. He then goes to the office and learns that he has been missing for a few days. Later a man goes to the office claiming that he and Steele had a bet which Steele lost and what was at stake is the Agency; which he is now coming to take possession. When Steele doesn't have any recollection of that, the man shows a note that Steele signed. Laura's upset with him. Later Steele goes into the office and discovers that someone burrowed into the office below which is a diamond merchant and made off with several million dollars worth of diamonds. Steele is arrested and the police is joined by insurance investigator Norman Keyes who believes Steele is a thief.And when they find some of the diamonds in Steele's apartment things don't look good for him.—rcs0411@yahoo.com
- Remington Steele ventures out on a "routine" client interview and wakes up 36 hours later alone in a hotel room. Upon returning to the agency he finds out that he has gambled away the agency in a high stakes poker game. While he, Laura and Mildred try to piece together the last day and a half the agency is take over by its new owner who moves into the offices. While Mildred and Steele learn that their new boss is really a con man carrying multiple passports, Mildred points out how similar Steele is to the new boss and wonders if he is good enough for Laura, he hopes that he is. As suddenly as the new boss takes over, he is gone, leaving in his stead a person sized hole in the floor of the offices and a vault missing $6 million worth of diamonds in the offices below. Steele is arrested for the diamond heist and put in jail while Laura and Mildred continue to chase down the leads as the "client", the doorman and everyone else who corroborated the poker game story disappear. Steele posts bail from an insurance investigator trying to recover the stolen gems and they find that the main suspects keep turning up dead. One final clue leads them to the airport where they apprehend the true thieves, their "absent minded" lawyer and his sweet heart accomplice.
