Rocky Sullivan (Lynne Randall), first seen motorcycling away from Sherlock Holmes in an earlier episode, is caught in a plot right out of "The Producers" (later referenced by Steele). Her managers (played by Robert Desidero and Jack Kruschen) have sold 500 percent of her because she's a rotten singer and her managers anticipate making a killing when she flops. But the killing seems to be done by a mobster who, threatening one of the managers, buys 50 percent of Rocky . . . And then examines the books and sees he's been swindled.

More serious than "The Producers," one of the funniest movies ever, it's certainly interesting in that, while many of the show's plots aren't fresh, this one flaunts its roots. It may be a borrowed plot but it keeps moving.

The title "Springtime for Steele" comes from the show the producers hope will flop in "The Producers," i.e. "Springtime for Hitler."
