Silly Season

I like murder blended with goofiness but this episode takes it a bridge too far.

Laura's sister thinks her dentist husband is having an affair. In fact, it's his dental partner having the affair but circumstances are against him.

So why is someone out to kill him, and how does a set of carefully-manufactured dentures fit in?

The episode dovetails nicely. It's set at a dental convention so everyone's acting just a bit too silly. But while this episode has some wonderful moments (like Remington, Laura and her brother-in-law to stay out of a certain room) the whole thing degenerates into extreme silliness.

I like 1980s romantic comedy adventures for their laughs ("Moonlighting," "Scarecrow and Mrs. King," "Remington Steele"). But occasionally they all take it too far. This one dances too close to the edge. But it's worth watching.

A pretty ridiculous episode which gets more nonsensical as it goes on. At least we get to meet more of Laura's family.

Donald Piper is Laura's brother in law and a dentist. He has been acting suspiciously. His wife Frances thinks he is having an affair, she is also fighting a chocolate addiction.

It is Donald's business partner who is having an affair and Donald has been helping him cover it up. In a dental conference, the business partner is found dead. Donald's life is in danger, it seems a man has faked his death and wants to have his dental records erased. The killer is now after Donald and even though we see him shoot a cop, run into people in a busy public area, he is still determined to prove he is dead!

This is a knockabout episode but an absurd one.
