A pre-Cartwright and his money are soon parted.

Warning: Spoilers
Episode featuring John Payne, Dan Blocker, and James Coburn. Blocker is Olaf Burland, a friend of Vint's who always intends to return home but who always manages to blow through any money he gets his hands on. Coburn is Tom Quinn, friendly with Olaf but determined to cheat Olaf out of his money.

And it appears Quinn has arranged along with the Marshal, Jubal Carney the saloon owner, and Dixie Starr the saloon temptress, to separate Vint from Olaf and then Olaf from his money. Now it's up to Vint to figure out how to get it back.

Vint works on Dixie and gets her to confess that Quinn and Carney put her up to distracting Olay for fifty dollars. She needed money to get back home herself. Vint ends up having to kill Quinn but only wounds Carney as he needs him to cough up the money.

In the end, Dixie is on the stage going home to Ohio; and Olaf to Minnesota.

"The Way Back" is an exciting episode that features an all-star cast and plenty of western action. The story begins with a wild-horse roundup, then plays out in a Western hotel, a jail, and a saloon. The ending features an interesting, albeit slightly expected, twist.

Dan Blocker makes his fifth appearance on "The Restless Gun", this time as gullible trail boss Olaf Burland. Burland has finally made enough money to return to his family farm in Minnesota, after being gone for six years. But saloon owner Jubal Carney (actor Morgan Woodward, who played "The Man With No Eyes" in Cool Hand Luke), and conniving cowboy Tom Quinn (actor James Coburn) have plans to separate Olaf from his $3000 bankroll. They enlist the help of alluring saloon girl "Dixie Starr" (actress Bek Nelson) to charm Olaf into removing his money from the hotel safe.

Lots of suspense! Will the bad guys get their hands on Olaf's money? Will the Marshall help or hinder their evil plans? What is Dixie Starr really feeling in her heart? Will Vint Bonner be able to keep Olaf from losing his $3000 bankroll?

I rate this episode of "The Restless Gun" a solid 10 stars.
