Although not the original radio broadcast, the 1927 Football Association Cup Final match being listened to by one of the Peruvian natives was the first FA Cup match to be broadcast by the BBC. The game was between Cardiff City and Arsenal. Cardiff scored the only goal due to a mistake by the Arsenal goalkeeper.
The commentator on the reproduced FA cup final broadcast is Michael Palin.
The writers take considerable licence when describing the route Snetterton is planning to take from Quequeña over the Andes. The map shows Quequeña lying to the East of the mountains, while the real Quequeña is to the West of the mountains. The narrator describes, and the animated map shows, the journey Westward over mountains, which the narrator notes will lead them to "the Brazilian border". In fact, the closest point where they would meet a border with Brazil is some 500 miles to the North in the State of Acre. The two possible routes shown on the map clearly lead to the sea on the West side of Perú.
