An Officer and a Gentleman (#2.15)

Warning: Spoilers
Roseanne's dad ends up in the hospital and Roseanne goes over to take care of him. Jackie in the meantime stays over to help take care of the house.

It was fun how people didn't expect Jackie to handle it and she did it so well. The scene that made her look like a 50's housewife getting the kids to school was really funny.

I don't get why Jackie didn't go to her father while Roseanne just would stay home. Makes no sense, besides that they wanted this episode or that Roseanne Barr needed time off. Dan would be able to make it himself too, Roseanne can cook after work so can he, and I believe he did it before. But as I said they wanted a moment between Jackie and Dan.

I must say that moment was making me kind of uncomfortable. Him remembering so well how he met her, her referring to him as a perfect man. Sue I don't think they will go with a story of Jackie taking Dan away and it was supposed to be innocent and simply show their friendship improve, but it was kind of weird.

Edit: now that after review I read the trivia I see why they made it! Roseanne was boycotting her show for a good reason. That line was out of her character! And they were planning to have Dan and Jackie maybe get together to get rid of Roseanne! This why it seemed weird. I am so glad the two actors refused to do it and told about it to Roseanne! Even if this one single episode was well received simply because of the characters having a development in their friendship (and yet I and probably many others felt it was weird) but it would not survive without Roseanne!

Warning: Spoilers
This episode makes me so uncomfortable. In my regular viewing of Roseanne (every night for years!), I always skip over or watch the first half of this episode and forget the rest. It's just so awkward to see Dan and Jackie forming feelings for each other and hint at infidelity. There are a few funny moments, and some great work by Laurie Metcalfe, but overall it's just not a feel good episode.
