Satan, Darling (#9.7)

Warning: Spoilers
Roseanne, Jackie and Nancy go to some high class party in New York. They meet some women there and drink with them having fun. Roseanne also takes something that makes her hallucinate about Darlene who has a baby. And then this baby turns out to be the baby of Satan. Then Roseanne wakes up.

What the hell was that? I was confused by the meaning of this episode. Should I have known all the other characters on it and didn't get the point because of that? I was just watching this bizarre episode being bored. I only laughed through the part about the little razor and Jackie park.

If this is what the rest of the season will be like then I guess why people hated it. It isn't that they got rich, its that they seem not to be able to write actual funny stuff about them being rich.

Another yawner, except for Mo

The episode looks like it was just flung together and, as was usually the case for Roseanne's later episodes (post-plastic surgery, post-lottery win), pretty much UNfunny. The Devil scenes??--What the..? However, Mo Gaffney absolutely steals this show away. She is hilarious! I always loved her on AbFab; those episodes were my all-time favorites. And then to see her on the two Roseanne episodes, in my humble opinion, saved what was left of an increasingly stupid and inane show. I know Roseanne was having a rough time, but evidently, she was putting everyone in the show through an equally hellacious time. At least, she used what was left of her brain to hire Mo Gaffney for those two shows. As an aside, I always felt John Goodman should have hurled Roseanne through a window, preferably from the 19th or 20th floor.

A disappointment

I thought of Eddy Monsoon from Ab Fab as something of a British version of Roseanne, so I cheered when I suddenly saw Eddy and Patsy meeting up with Roseanne and her sister at a party on one of the last episodes of Roseanne.

Unfortunately, the show looked like it was unrehearsed, not well planned, and filmed at the last minute. They could have done so much more. Eddy and Patsy giving Roseanne drugs didn't make the show funny, either. The characters didn't seem to be themselves, and they could have really exploited on the differences and similarities of the characters.

It's a shame that they messed up a wonderful opportunity to bring together some great comedians from both sides of the Atlantic and do something really good.

It's a simple fact that most heterosexual men and a lot of heterosexual women don't get Absolutely Fabulous, or Roseanne, for that matter. This episode combines the best elements of both of those shows. All four of the principal women are at their delightful best. Having Marlo Thomas do a cameo is hysterical, as is the Rosemary's Baby rip off. The whole thing was wild, madcap and hilariously funny. Unless you're a boring dull sports-loving heterosexual.
