Goodbye to Bayside
hellraiser723 February 2017
As an old saying goes all good things must come to an end. This is my fifth favorite episode of the show but also is one of my favorite series finale episodes. Sometimes the problem with most finales to TV series are they don't measure up to the episodes before, much like a build up with no pay off. But this show thankfully knew when to end and gave itself a fitting conclusion; it makes sense logically because the characters were on their senior year sooner or later they had to graduate.

It's really about the Bayside gang going though the motions of saying goodbye to Bayside and moving toward the future. I really liked that ballet sequence which cracked me up was pretty much one last misadventure for the Bayside gang. The Ballet itself is the daftest ballet I've ever seen, I wouldn't call a classic but at least it's got one thing over most ballets, it's actually entertaining.

But the heart of the episode is in two scenes where in one we see the gang in the hallway one more time. Each of course expresses what they feel except for Zack. Zack of course acts excited leaving Bayside but we know it's just that an act, like with most people some have trouble saying goodbye or confessing their sadness on the prospect of leaving because it's too painful and so they sometimes hide it to spare themselves and others pain. Of course we hear everyone else's feelings in that hallway, I'll admit seeing that scene is really sad because you know this is truly the last time their all going to be together in the hallway, they very place that brought them all together. It's much like with myself and my friends in high school we had a special place we talked and hung out, we went though the same motions; I still remember that place even when the school has been rebuilt places like that will always be there for me, my friends and many other souls.

It then comes down to each of them making a short speech on the podium and it really was touching but the best one for me was hearing Zack, seeing him actually express his feelings that Bayside really does mean a lot of him which is why he'll miss it, but it will be the people in his life from the Bayside gang to Mr. Belthing he'll miss even more.

Well that's all I have to say, farewell Zack, Slater, Screatch, Kelly, Jesse, Lisa, and Belthing you didn't just make Bayside great you all were Bayside. But like every wave in the ocean it's time to move back and go out into the broad ocean. So Goodbye to Bayside.
