The initial fake nose came back from the prosthetics-maker far too small. When they first put the nose on actress Susan Diol, everybody became worried it wouldn't work and they wanted to throw it out. The makeup artist, however, ended up saving the story by building it up with mortician's wax until it was the enormous, cartoonishly large nose as seen in the final episode.
This episode introduces us to Kramer's (Michael Richards) alias of Dr. Von Nostrand. This alter-ego also appears in episodes 8.5, The Package (1996), 9.7, The Slicer (1997), and 9.20.
This episode concludes the storyline of Kramer's jacket that previously belonged to his mother's boyfriend, which took place over four consecutive episodes.
It is revealed that Kramer's alter ego Dr. van Nostrand is a real person, as the landlord said he read his book.
