Manjula's becoming pregnant with octuplets after the Simpsons unwittingly give her an overdose of fertility drugs was partly inspired by the case of Mandy Allwood, a British woman who became pregnant with octuplets in 1996 after using an experimental fertility drug. Unlike Manjula, Allwood miscarried all of her octuplets, though she did become pregnant again the following year and gave birth to a daughter.
The title is from the musical 'Ain't Misbehavin'' with a book by Murray Horwitz and Richard Maltby, Jr., and music by Fats Waller. The original Broadway production opened at the Longacre Theater in New York on May 9, 1978, ran for 1604 performances and won the 1978 Tony Award (New York City) for the Best Musical.
