This is the fourth episode of the fourth season of the Simpsons and it's a very good episode highlighting on themes of sacrifice and self-image. Of course, humor is mighty prevalent. But it's worth paying attention to the themes and in reality, the episode can actually psychologically help people in need. That being said, this is a funny episode. My favorite scene has Lisa singing parts of "Proud Mary," a hit song from Creedence Clearwater Revival.
In this episode, "Lisa the Beauty Queen," Homer enters Lisa in a children's beauty contest after her image is broken as a cartoonist made Lisa look ugly. Lisa comes in second, but after the winner is injured, Lisa wins by default. Lisa is shocked to be promoting cigarettes while on tour, so instead she campaigns against smoking.
Overall, this is a solid, well-done episode. It has very important themes that one can appreciate. There is even a surprise guest appearance by the late Bob Hope so that was a wonder. A very good episode. I rate this episode 9/10.
