In this episode, Mike's divorced mother, Macy (Meredith Baxter), has come to the Big Apple to see her son. During the visit she strikes up conversation with Mayor Winston. And after a photo of the Mayor handing money to a known prostitute, Mike cannot find the Mayor for damage control. He should have looked in his mother's hotel room.
Also security has been tightened at City Hall. When an older security guard accidentally shoots Paul in the side of the face, the guard is going to lose his job. But the guard, Hank, has one last point of revenge for Paul.
Also in the show you have Nikki that is dating a ventriloquist named, Steve. Even though Steve is a nice looking guy, he cannot communicate with Nikki unless he has Mr Bungle, his puppet. Nikki is at wits end on what to do with this relationship.
This is like the first part of a two part episode and has really set us up for the remaining of the stories. It appears we all know where the story with Mike's mom will be heading but the humorous part, about Paul being shot, is getting even more interesting. Not really been a fan of two part comedy sitcoms but there is much material that could be entertaining. It will be the next show to actually see if the writers can make the leap.
