- When Teal'c is trapped in the Stargate buffer, the team must juggle the technical challenges along with personal, interdepartmental and diplomatic rivalries to rescue him in time.
- When SG-1 returns from planet P3X116 under fire, only three of them make it back to SGC safely: O'Neill, Carter and Jackson. Teal'c entered the gate but it was destroyed before completing the trip and the signal was lost. Carter believes that Teal'c's "signature" is still in the gate's buffer but she's not sure how to retrieve him. Meanwhile, Jackson and Major Paul Davis head to Moscow to negotiate an agreement with the Russians to use their gate for SGC activities. Col. Frank Simmons informs General Hammond that they have only 48 hours to retrieve Teal'c and introduces the brilliant but arrogant Dr. Rodney McKay to help Sam with the problem. For his part, O'Neill turns to a new ally for information after Simmons tries to blackmail Hammond.—garykmcd
- While returning from a planet under attack by the Goa'uld, Jack, Sam and Daniel arrive at the SGC safe and sound. However, Teal'c stops running to shoot Tanith, and the Stargate is destroyed by the debris of Tanith's spaceship when he jumps through. Teal'c is trapped in the Stargate and never arrives at the SGC. Sam believes his signature is in the Stargate and tries to find a means to retrieve him. General Hammond shuts down the Stargate while Daniel and Major Paul Davis travel to Russia to deal for the use of the Russian Stargate to bring the American teams that are on other worlds back. Colonel Simmons arrives at the SGC with the arrogant Dr. Rodney McKay and tells General Hammond that he has only 48 hours to bring Teal'c back; further, Simmons blackmails Hammond. - Because Teal'c can't resist firing at feud-hated Goa-uld Tanith, whose crashing fighter hits the stargate on his planet, the Jaffa jumps so late, unlike his SG-1 mates, that he doesn't materialize in base but remains stuck in the gate's 'memory'. At least, that's Carter's theory, which convinces the general to order the gate iris blocked to give her time to fix it, but the Pentagon rather believes rival tech expert Dr. Rodney McKay, whose pessimistic theory gets Colonel Frank Simmons permission from Washington to impose a 48 hours time limit. Meanwhile Daniel must negotiate in Moscow with the mistrusting, vindictive Russians to borrow their DHD power source Carter needs for a fix, which he ultimately gets from their general, who comes along. Meanwhile Jack relies on rogue NID agent Harry Mayborne to find and lean on NID boss Simmons's captured Goa'uld.—KGF Vissers
