Rebuffing Hutch's concerns about how weak and wan he looks, Starsky jokingly claims to have "played Camille in high school," a reference to the Alexandre Dumas play about a woman stricken with tuberculosis, whose health slowly declines towards death. The original---and most beautiful---film version is Camille (1921), which starred silent screen legend, Rudolph Valentino.
