No this not another version of Jack the Ripper, despite the fact that this crime story happens in London in the eighteenth century. This a rather outstanding atmosphere piece of work, but I have not read the Robert Louis Stevenson's novel; so I can't say if yes or not this episode is faithful to the original. Very British in the style, and also excellent and daring shot angles from Robert Mulligan the director. Look out for the sequence of Franchot Tone with the clocks and mirrors in the pawnbroker's shop.
