Bart Furley is constantly spoken of in the series. But this is the only time he is seen.
At one point, Bart (played by Hamilton Camp) calls Ralph "old sock" with no explanation. Hamilton Camp also played Corporal Boots Miller on M*A*S*H, the character who out did Klinger by talking to his socks. After he got his Section Eight, he struck it rich by selling sock puppets.
When Mr. Furley says he's going to retire, the girls remind him that he can't retire until he 65. For the record, Don Knotts, the actor who played Mr. Furley, was 57 years old when this episode was shot.
Jack and Janet are playing an Atari VCS at the beginning of the episode.
Near the end of the episode, after Furley has gotten his job back, he informs the kids his apartment is being repainted and they'll be roommates for a further 2 weeks. If he had just been fired and told to move out just a day or two before, there's no chance he'd be having the apartment repainted!
