An homage to the past done right
If you're into american superhero comic books I'm pretty sure you'll known (even if solely by name) numerous attempts by the major american comic book companies (particularly DC Comics) of "homaging its past" with numerous storylines that, while on the surface they attempt to do that, in reality what they end doing is making the number 1.000.000.000 retelling of The Dark Knight Returns and Watchmen with characters taken from the Golden and Silver Age eras and turning them into what they aren't, meaning another iteration of the Batman from TDKR and the vigilantes from Watchmen. I don't have any idea if Tsuburaya ever did that (by looking at the Ultraseven X infos they actually followed the Dark and Gritty way of doing things) but that's not what they did here, they simply homaged the original 60's Ultraman and the people who made it into reality with an episode that legimitely elitic tears from people like me, who are not uber Ultraman aficionados and have been following the IP only recently due to a renewed interest in the Tokusatsu field thanks to the suggestions of Ojamajo Doremi in that regards. I wish the americans understood that this is the proper way to "homage" the past, instead of the suicidal manner they've been employing from the 80's on. Easily the highlight of the entire series IMHO.
