Bentley Falk...his name will be HUGE!!!
planktonrules7 November 2017
Admiral Bentley Falk (J.D. Cannon) is a terrible person, but no one yet realizes it. He's a grandstander who adores the spotlight and press and has been taking credit for one of his assistants' work on ultra- deep dives. Falk's plan, ultimately, is to prove this system works and use it on the Seaview...but Admiral Nelson has his doubts about Falk and his scheme.

This is a decent episode because it focuses on human nature...or at least the worst aspects of it. However, the episode ALSO re-uses a monster used previously and this is a bit sloppy. Still, despite this, Falk's character as well as his lackey (Alvy Moore) are very compelling and make this one worth seeing.

Another crazy episode for this crazy series.

Once you have seen the opening sequence, you are already thrilled, glued to this episode. This kind of gigantic sea monster suggests something absolutely terrific for the following and you won't be wrong. Every time I watch an episode of this show, I am truly amazed. The screenplays are so inventive, between spies and aliens, mad scientists who dream of ruling the world and other monsters, you are never disappointed. JD Cannon is exquisite here as the evil character. Wonderful directing and acting too. I won't spoil you the story which deserves to be seen. I am not sure that the black seasons were aired in France.

Warning: Spoilers
A scientist named Falk (JD Cannon) wants to take the Seaview to the very bottom of the sea.

Some monster-fans might look at the start of this episode with open jawed wonder, then spend then next 40 minutes saying: "where the hell did the two headed spaghetti man go??".

I did not react that way, but I must admit I was a little bored during the first 25 minutes. However, things pick up in the second half.

The monster is not the star of this hour, this episode is a human drama about Nelson, Crane and Falk.

Anybody who has seen the final two-part episode of QM's The Fugitive series (which also had JD Cannon) might see that it has something in common with The Condemned...JD plays a big phoney in both shows.
