- [it's a scene from December 24, 1954]
- Don Bassett: [about Volkswagens] Nobody's going to buy those cars. They're too small and they're too ugly. It's a fad, just like TV.
- Ghost of Christmas Future: [Johnny has taken the form of The Ghost of Christmas Future and explains to Mr. Carlson what happened to his fellow co-workers] One by one, you sort of forced them to quit. Bailey runs a television station in Chicago now. Travis is breeding guard dogs in New Mexico. Venus owns a clothing company called Upwardly Mobile. Jennifer married, bought herself an entire island off the coast of Sardinia. Les Nessman: Republican Whip of the United States Senate.
- Arthur Carlson: And what about you and me? Uh, uh, uh, Fever and me?
- Ghost of Christmas Future: Well, Fever just sort of disappeared. There were rumors of course, but really not much... else.
- [first lines]
- Bailey Quarters: [office Christmas party] You know, I remember my grandmother making these very same cookies.
- [with disgust:]
- Bailey Quarters: I don't remember them tasting this bad.
- Ghost of Arthur Carlson's Grandfather: This is your Grandfather, Arthur-boy, back from the cold, dark grave.
- Arthur Carlson: [stuttering in disbelief] But you're dead?
- Ghost of Arthur Carlson's Grandfather: I just said, "back from the cold, dark grave". Try to pay attention, okay?
