- Bailey Quarters: [entering the control booth to give support to Johnny who is trying to go back on the air after freezing due to mic fright] Come on, Johnny. You can do it.
- Dr. Johnny Fever: [nodding like he doesn't believe it] Yeah.
- Bailey Quarters: [reiterating the advice Johnny gave her] Just pretend you're talkin' to one person. A friend. Me.
- Dr. Johnny Fever: [cautiously] Okay.
- Bailey Quarters: [supportively] That's how you told me how to do it. Now you do it.
- Dr. Johnny Fever: [with a slight choking in his voice] Okay, I'll give it a try.
- Bailey Quarters: Just talk to me.
- [Johnny turns on the speaker with the commercial nearing its end]
- Bailey Quarters: [to Johnny] Talk to me.
- Dr. Johnny Fever: [quietly talking into the mic on the air] This is, uh, your Doctor speaking.
- Dr. Johnny Fever: [smiling while looking up to Bailey for support] Hello, and good afternoon, Cincinnati. I sure would like to take you home and kiss you all over in the dark...
- Bailey Quarters: You know, Johnny, I don't know how you do it.
- Dr. Johnny Fever: Do what?
- Bailey Quarters: Perform our show every morning.
- Dr. Johnny Fever: Duck soup. Just, uh, talk into the mike and your voice goes out through the wires and... once a week, whether you need it or not, somebody comes in here and, uh, gives you a check for... thirty-eight dollars.
- Bailey Quarters: Don't you, uh, ever get scared?
- [chuckles]
- Bailey Quarters: You know, like, uh... get stage fright?
- [chuckles]
- Dr. Johnny Fever: Well, I'll tell you a secret, Bailey. If you ever find yourself on the air, and, uh, you feel a little nervous... just imagine that you're speaking to one specific person. See? Which, in fact, is probably the case here. The main thing is: Don't think about it. Just do it! Thinking will kill you every time.
- Jennifer Marlowe: [entering] For the last hour and a half, approximately a hundred people have dumped their garbage on the steps of City Hall.
- Andy Travis: Why?
- Arthur Carlson: Uh, don't tell, Jennifer. Don't... don't tell why.
- Jennifer Marlowe: Because Johnny Fever told them to.
- Arthur Carlson: [as Andy jumps up] There, you see? You told him why.
- Andy Travis: When?
- Jennifer Marlowe: This morning.
- Arthur Carlson: Who told you this?
- Jennifer Marlowe: The Mayor's Office.
- Arthur Carlson: [scoffs] That's good. Are we in trouble, Jennifer?
- Jennifer Marlowe: Absolutely.
- Arthur Carlson: You want me to call my mother's attorney?
- Jennifer Marlowe: Definitely.
- Arthur Carlson: [starts leaving] I'd better go talk to Johnny.
- Jennifer Marlowe: Immediately.
