- Randall is deputized to transport a ruthless killer to Tucson, but exchanges him for the nun kidnapped by the killer's gang. The nettlesome nun then becomes a thorn in his side as he sets out to recapture his prisoner.
- The saloon where Josh is playing cards suddenly goes quiet when two nuns enter. The Mother Superior walks over to Josh who stands as she approaches. She tells him that one of their novices, Sister Grace, who is seventeen was taken hostage by members of Lon Kidder's gang who want her returned. Kidder, a confessed murderer, is being held by the Sheriff in the local jail awaiting transport to Tucson, Arizona. The Sheriff refuses to release Kidder as it would invite the same action from other outlaws. Josh volunteers to take Kidder to Tucson for no pay. The Sheriff goes along realizing Josh has a short detour in mind. Kidder takes Josh to the hideout where Josh makes the switch cleanly. After he and Sister Grace are away from the hideout, he tries to convince her to return to the convent alone but instead she trails him when he returns to the hideout the next morning. The men are gone but Sister Grace tells him they are headed to Mexico via Mission Junction. Josh heads there but finds he still has a persistent tail but perhaps a lucky one.
- The Mother Superior of the Convent of the Sacred Heart approaches Josh Randall and asks him to help them to liberate their 17 year old novice Sister Grace, who is held as a hostage by some outlaws. Their leader Lon Kidder was captured by the sheriff the day before, and they will only release the nun in exchange for Kidder. The sheriff cannot accept this, as it would inspire outlaws in the whole territory to take nuns as hostages. Josh asks the sheriff to make him a temporary deputy , and let him take care of Kidder. The sheriff understands what Josh plans to do, but Josh assures him that he will bring Kidder to Tucson, after having borrowed him for a while. Kidder leads Josh to the gang's hiding place, where Sister Grace is released in exchange for Kidder. Josh tells her to ride to the Convent, while he himself will recapture Kidder. But she refuses to go back. Instead she follows him to Mission Junction, where she has heard that the outlaws plan to rob the bank. To keep her away from the shooting, Josh has to tie her up in the Mission Church nearby. But she figures out a new plan on how to help him.—Maths Jesperson {maths.jesperson1@comhem.se}
