Arlene Francis is congratulated by David Niven and, at the end, John Daly, on the excellent notices she received for her role in "Once More, With Feeling". Daly mentions at the end of the show that Philadelphia audiences are in for a treat as the show will be headed there before its Broadway opening.
First guests were Hugh Meade Alcorn, Jr. (October 20, 1907 - January 13, 1992), then Chairman of the Republican National Committee and Paul Mulholland Butler (1905- 1961) who was a U.S. lawyer and, more significantly, then chairman of the Democratic National Committee. They made it to $45 before Bennett Cerf hit on politics and Arlene Francis zeroed in on their respective positions.
The second guest was Richard Knerr (30 June 1925 - 14 January 2008), who was an American inventor best known for inventing and/or marketing the Frisbee, Super Ball, Slip n' Slide and Hula Hoop. In 1948 he co-founded the company Wham-O with Arthur "Spud" Melin (1925-2002), who had appeared in the previous week's episode. At the time of this broadcast the Hula Hoop was a national craze.
