Interesting linking episode between arcs

Warning: Spoilers
Here, Ken Wahl makes a pretty fair job of playing both Vinnie and Vinnie's father, and via a diary his father kept (unlikely plot device but necessary to the story) he finds out that his father's past life was rather different to what Vinnie had been led to believe. Instead of being a poor but honest and hardworking man who'd resisted becoming involved in the petty criminality surrounding him, he'd been tempted to earn a little extra by doing that very thing, with dangerous consequences. The revelation shocks and saddens Vinnie. There was one aspect of this production I didn't like and that was the re-employment of actors who'd played different roles in earlier episodes. I'm sure the acting profession is more rife with examples of this nepotism than almost any other profession but presumably there's no shortage of actors and actresses looking for work! Particularly, Patti D'Arbanville managed to extend her role beyond the dull Dead Dog arc (and who thought of that ghastly name for a business) into Vinnie's private life and even into the next series, not counting her "cameo" in this episode, which was the fourteenth one she was in!! She's an OK actress but plenty are. I can only assume she had friends among the production team or cast.
