Dave Cameron has just been release from the Yuma prison and he is making his way to a small town called Clarke City. He has a friend named Charlie Barnes that lives in the city and he wants to see him. Charlie was also a cellmate of his and they were as close as brothers. Charlie had been released a year earlier and was working as a cowhand for a large landowner, Mr Clarke, that same person the town is named after.
When Cameron gets to the town everyone is suspicious of the ex-con. And when he tells everyone that he is there to see Charlie Barnes it starts a wave around the town. Charlie had been lynched a few weeks earlier when he was accused of killing the elder Mr Clarke. The Sheriff was away on business and the local townsfolk took matters into their on hands and lynched Barnes. He was seen, by the local drunk, standing over Mr Clarke's body that had been shot in the back. The town wanted instant justice, so without a trial of any kind, hung Barnes.
Cameron knew that Barnes would not shoot anyone in the back and set out to prove Charlie Barnes innocents. But trying to confirm that the town lynched the wrong man is going to prove difficult since no one in the town of Clarke City wants to hear any facts.
With a solid turning point in the plot, this proved to be an enjoyable show that was worthy of the series. When we, as viewers, hear the true news of the situation we can all feel regret for people in the town. An entertaining episode even though the outcome of the story was melancholy. Good watch
