You don't get to pick your companions in crime

Normally just a host Dick Powell took a turn in acting in one of his Four Star Zane Grey Theater westerns. In this one Powell is a veteran bank robber who went in on a job reluctantly and is now fleeing across the desert with a pair of companions he'd sooner not have.

One is a green farm kid Ben Cooper, the other however is a sadistic and homicidal punk played by James Coburn. Before concentrating on the big screen, Coburn played in just about every TV western there was mostly as bad guys. This one is a very typical part for him. He's the reason a posse led by Sheriff John Pickard is in hot pursuit and not just for the money.

Powell's part is similar to the world weary outlaw Gregory Peck did in The Gunfighter. Powell does it well. In fact he and Coburn are the main reason to see this fine Zane Grey Theater production.
