One of the best shows in the entire series.

Danny Thomas stars as Ed Dubro that has just been released from State Prison after twelve years. The only thing that Ed has left in the world in a daughter, Laurie, that he left many years ago. But Ed wants to start over with a new life and leave his past life behind, including his daughter.

Upon getting off the stage Laurie is waiting and wants to have a father again. Ed finally agrees and they set off for the old homestead. Laurie has cleaned the old house and got it ready for living. Laurie also introduces her Pa to her boyfriend, Vince Harwell. Laurie tells her father that she and Vince are to marry. But there is more to Vince than meets the eye.

An amazing episode that could have been an entire movie instead of a thirty minute show. Danny Thomas and his real-life daughter Marlo Thomas are excellent and the viewer is caught up with their relationship. And when tragedy strikes, the entire audience is captured within the story just waiting for more. An excellent production in any type genre. Honor Bright!

A fantastic episode

Yes, the previous comment is absolutely right. This episode is among, if not the best of the whole series. It's no more than a tragic tale about a doomed fate. I won't spoil it any further, but it's certainly not as cheesy as the other stories made for the whole family with their f..happy endigs nearly all the time with predictable schèmes. You don't have so many episode of this kind in the anthology, so don't miss the opportunity to watch this one. At any cost. The pure Robert Ellis Miller's touch. But that's nothing to do with the western atmosphere. It's simply a drama that could have been set in the modern times.

I thought this might be a dull episode, but I was thankfully wrong. I agree with the others that this is the best of Zane Grey. It was a good series, but this one was the best. It showed great dramatic performances from real life father and daughter, Danny and Marlo Thomas, you know, she's That Girl. I rarely post reviews, but that's how good this was. Enjoy!
